Baptism is administered on designated Sundays during the Eucharist. Holy Baptism is especially appropriate at the Easter Vigil, on the Day of Pentecost, on the Feast of All Saints, the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord (first Sunday after The Epiphany), and the Bishop’s Visitation. If necessary, under special circumstances baptisms may be scheduled at other times in consultation with the Rector. Godparents (Sponsors) must be baptized and it is recommended that they be either confirmed members of this parish or active in their own parish.
Marriage is solemnized only after instruction by the Rector. It is recommended that six months notice be given. No marriages may be solemnized unless at least 30 days notice has been given. If there has been a divorce involving either party, the Bishop must be petitioned and a Godly Judgement issued. The divorce decree must be dated at least one year before the scheduled wedding. It has been a tradition of the Church that seasons of Advent and Lent are not appropriate for marriages.
Burial of the Christian dead has traditionally been done from the Church. The Rite of Christian Burial information on interment of cremated remains in the St. Stephen’s Memorial Garden and how to make arrangements are available in the parish office.
